Zhejiang University

Dr Yi Hong obtained his PhD from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2012. He is an associate professor working in the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Zhejiang University, China. Dr Hong's current research interests are focused on:

1. cyclic behaviour of gassy marine sediments
2. cyclic soil-pile interaction in gassy marine sediments
3. marine geo-hazards due to gas fracturing

His research expertise involves centrifuge modelling, numerical analysis (including finite element analysis and extended finite element analysis), element and field experiments.

Dr Hong has authored/co-authored more than 25 papers in the leading international geotechnical journals, 3 keynote papers in the international conferences, two English monographs and one Chinese monograph. He is the awardee of "Outstanding Young Geotechnical Engineer" in the 19th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.

Dr Hong taught "Soil Mechanics" and "Foundation Engineering" at the undergraduate level, as well as "Engineering Mechanics" at the postgraduate level.
